1989 CRX #871

Honey Badger seems like a fitting name for this car! It is going to rip on track. This is the car that started our inspiration for endurance racing. It started off with a bunch of veteran friends that created a racing group called Sticky Rice Racing as the name for the enduro team. Everyone started to pitch in to build the car in 2016 and is now going to get finished in 2022 for its first endurance race with Lucky Dog.. The heart of the car is a K20A3 out of a 2002-2005 Honda Civic Si, mated up to a 5-speed transmission. We are running Shaftworks coilovers, DA front brake calipers and front knuckle setup, Hawk brake pads, Koenig 15x8.5 wheels, and 225 Hankook RS4 tires. This is a very basic build with neat custom stuff. We are running a radiator out of a Volkswagon Corrado, it has been tilted forward to gain 2” of clearance away from the motor. We worked with Race Louvers (a fellow Veteran) and came up with a custom hood vent solution. The whole front end is ducted. This car should run cool, and should have grip as well! On the scales, the CRX comes in at 1919 lbs with 1/2 tank of fuel (6 gallons). We will ballast the car to shift the weight rearward to try and enhance the F/R weight distribution while trying to perfect the L/R weights. We’re hoping this car puts us on the map as serious competitors while having a blast being on track together.
